Q: I am moving into a new home. Should I re-key (change) the locks?
A: Yes! Even though you may have people you trust with your house key, you have no way of knowing how many other people the previous home owner (or apartment renter) also have keys. Note: the same awareness should apply if you have survived a domestic dispute or are an employer who has fired an employee.

Q: Why should I use a professional locksmith when I can buy the materials at a hardware store and install them myself?
A: Skilled professional locksmiths bring experience and a wealth of knowledge to your home or business. They also have access to higher quality locks and devices that are not generally carried by stores that serve the broad general public. We can offer pick and drill resistance, access control options, and protection against unauthorized key duplication. And we do our jobs faster than the casual home handyman.

Q: I am a busy person. Can Carson Locksmith give me a specific appointment time?
A: Yes. We value our customers' time and will always give you a time and date for our service visit. If we are delayed en route by traffic, we will phone ahead.

Q: My landlord gave me the keys to my apartment; why should I get new locks?
A: Some property owners don't install new locks when they rent to a new tenant, they swap locks with other vacant apartments. A previous tenant with time or motive can simply try his key in every door of a building until he finds one where it works.

Q: I have to wiggle my key or hold it "just right" to make it work. Why?
A: As locks age over time and use, the pins in a lock cylinder tend to wear down, causing your key to stick or, sometimes, not work at all. You might even have been given a faulty or worn key. Locks need to be replaced not only for security but for normal wear and tear.
